Assault on a Police Officer

Part of a conversation I had with hubby over dinner last night:

To paraphrase

Hubby - If a really mean cat attacks a police dog, what happens to the cat? You know if you hit a police dog they can get you for assault on a police officer. So what if a cat did it? What would happen then?
